What the...!? I did some work on MZI!?
The title says it all. I found myself doing some work on Metroid Zebian Illusion yesterday, and it's looking better already. Look forward to another dumbed-down release of MZI, this time spreading into Kraid's Hideout. When? I dunno. Whenever I get around to moving around the screens for that area; I've made the building blocks, now I just have to start building!
One more thing... DarKnight13 has created a new webring, so I joined it (Surprise, surprise). You can find the new webring banner in the webring section and on the main page (It's small enough to put there). As for DarKnight13's old Nifty Hacking Ring, I don't know what's going on with it. So I'll just leave the banner there for everyone to admire (Yay!).
One more thing... Mega Man: Wily's Conquest is coming along smoothly; the release of v0.70 is drawing nearer...
One more thing... If you didn't already guess (He is kind of working on a new hack, you know...), TBone2000 is back! I kinda forgot to mention that last update...
One more thing... Happy 4th of July!
One more...wait a sec, that's it.

Fixed frames problem, and a new hack is announced!!!
First, and most importantly, a new hack has been added to the DES line-up: Castlevania Forever. CF will be done by everyone's favorite TBone2000, who has sent me some screen shots of the game to post. I have played the game and it is very fun; I can assure you that it is something to look forward to! So far, TBone has done a great job on this new hack!
The other thing that I have to mention is that the site's bottom frame problem, where it stays when you leave DES, should be fixed. Many thanks go out to Challenge Games' Zero Soul for telling me how to fix this. I apologize for any inconveniences that this problem may have caused in the past. Be sure to e-mail me if you find any links where the frame stays. Also, some of the text has been taken out of the bottom frame because some browsers display a scroll bar for the copyright. I took out the e-mail info, which is now located at the top. That should be it for now...
Oh, yes, there were a few more things. First, I added a link bar to all pages for those of you whose browsers don't support the pull-down menus that allow you to navigate the site. Second, I changed the picture on the top of the utilities, GS utilities, links, documents, and archives pages from the site logo to a shrunken down, modified logo, courtesy of ETG. Thirdly, I added some updated pics of Mega Man: Wily's Conquest to the MMWC page. The difference would be the palette. MMWC is speeding along very quickly; I'm doing pretty well with my enemy editing, since I recently obtained the enemy location data for all levels, even those which I can't yet edit the layout of. I hope to find the level layout data for those stages soon. Some other additions that I may include in MMWC would be new music (If I can find the data, or if Kuwata will tell me where it is) and harder bosses (Again, this will only be changed if Kuwata will tell me the locations of the data or if I can find it myself). MMWC is looking almost too good right now!
And that should be it! Nothing else comes to mind... Thanks for visiting!

A little bit of everything.
First of all, I would like to announce the possible existance of a new hack! I have been talking with GameMakr24, and if his friend can fix up a certain editor, there will be a joint CG/DES project. With the story I've cooked up and GameMakr24's creativity, this hack will probably be a smash hit, should it become a reality.
Secondly, I know that many people have been anxious to play Mega Man: Wily's Conquest v0.70, and I'll happily say that the wait is nearing an end! I have been working on MMWC since Saturday, making new graphics, fixing level bugs, and the like, and it is looking better than ever! Take a look at the pictures in the MMWC section and be sure to tell me what you think! You can reach me at vagla_des@hotmail.com. One thing that you may want to know about MMWC, though, is that there may not even be a v0.70. I recently stumbled upon Kuwata's Game Page, which has Rockman hacks on it. Kuwata knows how to change the music, last three levels, and more. If he is willing to help (And if his data works on Mega Man 1), then I will skip directly to a v1.00 release.
Thirdly, I have created a news archive for all news from 2/25/01 back to when DES moved to CG (And people finally started coming here!). I have yet to add a link to it in the drop-down menu at the top; the link is in the list below it.
And finally, I added a link to Kuwata's Game Page in the link section. Be sure to visit it if you like Mega Man/Rockman!

Farewell to Tbone2000
Tbone2000 posted this message on the Challenge Games message boards:
Well I have had such a real hard time dealing with things. I have not finished or even looked at Kid Icarus Remix since I did the beta of 4-1. I found out that I have medical problems. So after I finish beta testing ZeldaC; I am going to take a brake and try to find out what is wrong with me and what to do. It's not like, well it's hard to explain. It can get serious, but it is not right now. So......I know I never made a huge impact here, but I will be back. I will finish Kid Icarus Remix when I come back. I would like to thank Zack for teaching what I know. X-4000 for making me feel apart of something good and Vagla for making me a member of Dragon Eye Studios. I hope Vagla will still keep me on the team even though I will be gone for a while. Everyone keep hacking and have fun!
Hopefully he will be able to return soon... He will still have a spot here, and I wish him good luck for the future!

Utilities and Links Update
I have updated the Game-Specific Utilities section and the Links section. The Links section now has a link to RockNES, the home page for Fx3's emulator, RockNES. Also, the Game-Specific Utilities section now has the Castlevania Level Editor v1.0, Zeldit v1.0, Visine 2.0 Beta, and the Kid Icarus Level Editor v1.0. Be sure to take a look!

I have decided to let everyone see some pictures of my Seekrit Projekt, Vengeance. But there's a
catch! (I don't just give out photos of seekrit projekts!) You'll have to find them yourself! Hidden across DES are links; if you
find one, it will take you to a special page that will have a pic of Vengeance. Keep in mind that
these links are
very
difficult to find! If you find one, be sure to e-mail me at
vagla_des@hotmail.com and tell me what you think! Praise, criticism, and questions are all
welcome! Also, these pictures are not final, and the palette for the main character is
not the right palette (I haven't changed it yet). Remember that these links could be
anywhere!

Today is my birthday, so I saw it fit to make an update today! I've been hard at work on my 'seekrit projekt', codenamed
Vengeance, which is currently 15% complete. I may announce the game and post some screen shots soon...
I added a link to Dreamwave Games in the link section. They are currently making Dragon Warrior Silver.
I was recently informed that the navigation bar at the top of this page doesn't work in some browsers, causing some people to not be able to view the whole site. So, I have added a link to every page below the bar, but on this page only. I may get around to doing it on the other pages this week.
You should be seeing more updates on DES now. I will be making improvements to the site design, as well as updating the hack info. As for the Display Case (Located at Challenge Games), it is not dead. I'm currently reviewing Strange Mario Bros.

I finally got around to updating DES! I've been so busy with school lately... I am finally releasing my ROMhacking document (I'm sure
that most everyone out there didn't expect that!), and I have set up a documents section, even though the only document in it is my own.
I'll get more in there later. It is called the ROMhacker's Guide to NES Text, Hex, and Graphics Hacking. It covers the basics and need-to-know
ROMhacking information. I hope this will help all of the newbies out there! For all of you experienced ROMhackers out there, pick up
a copy anyway! You may learn a thing or two!
As for ROMhacking, I've been working on a 'Seekrit projekt' that everyone will love! It's about 7% complete, but I've been having trouble with the new graphics for the main character. They won't fit into the original frames!
One thing I have to get around to doing on this web site is to archive the news. I'm sure everyone's tired of the at least five pages of news on DES, so I'll get it archived soon.
TBone2000's hack, Kid Icarus Remix, is coming along well! Keep up the good work, TBone2000!

Well, welcome back to the wonderful world of RomHacking. I TBone2000 of Dragon Eye Studios have finished Levels
3-1,3-2, and 3-3. It took me a good bit. I also finished the title screen, its nothing special, but I like it.
I actually love this stage. I love the very end of 3-3. For the finally I will try to do my best with 4-1. I want
it to be as memorable as possible. I mean as good as the orignal. I really want to thank GameMakr24 for helping me
start. I also wish him luck on the awesome ZeldaC. I can't wait to play it. It looks great. Check out Kid Icarus Remix
and go to Challenge games for there great selection of hacks. Oh Sorry, I named it the remix because it is not really
a new platform or anything and I like the word remix better. That is what it is....a remix. You will enjoy it so try it out.

I am back after a little wait with another great update to Kid Icarus. Patch 2-3 has been released and its looks
pretty good. I just hope you all like it. The next version wil definitely take me a while because
of school. I am also sorry to hear about Zophar's Domain. I went there when I first started to learn
about emulation. Everyone here of course wishes him the best. I know I am new, but I want to be a major influence
on hackers and also help people like myself when I first started. It is really fun and I think everyone should try
to do it. Thanks everyone. Pick up the new patch and check out our other hacks as well.

Well, first of all, as you may have already noticed, I now have icons for T-Bone2000 and myself, Vagla, up and running! Many thanks go to x-4000, who created these icons!
Secondly, if you tried to download Kid Icarus on Sunday or Monday, you would have received the 'Error. Cannot find requested item' screen. I fixed this on Tuesday. If you haven't yet downloaded this patch, please do so now!
Finally, if you've been to Challenge Games lately, you would have noticed a new section! The Display Case is a great new section being written by me! It will have reviews and screenshots of hacks from the Showcase. Currently, it only has 3 reviewed hacks, but I hope to eventually review all of the hacks in the Showcase. Hop on over to CG and take a look!

I am finished patch v2-2. I thought it would take me forever. I had some extra time and got to work. I just have some trouble because some of the levels are reused. After I am done all the hacking and graphical changes; I will try to hack the fortress levels and try to change the levels that are reused. I have been experimenting with hexadecimal and have had good success. Patch v2-3 will defintely take me some time to do. I am doing networking in school and have to pay for an engagement ring. I am going to have to work extra hard to pay for it. The only reason I am writing it on here is because she never goes online. Congratulations to me. We are doing really well and will ask her to marry me soon. I know she will I just want to make it official. Thats about it. I will definitely update as soon as I can. Have a nice day!

Well this is my very first update so I hope I did it correctly. I finished version 2-1. I had alot of fun finishing this stage. It will take a little while to finish the next stage because I am currently learning to be a Microsoft Certified Engineer. I just hope everyone who downloads this hack enjoys it. I would also like to thank x-4000 for putting my hack into the showcase. I am glad to start to be recognized in the ROMHacking community. I would like to thank Vagla for hiring me and letting me a part of something good and fun. So when you get a chance the new patch is ready to download.

Well, I'm very sorry that I haven't updated since the 26th. I was
at my cabin in the Cispus Valley for about 10 days with no access to a
computer. I also apologize to T-Bone2000, because he sent me his
Kid Icarus v1-3 hack, but since I was gone, I wasn't able to put it up!
That's right, Kid Icarus v1-3 is now up in the Kid Icarus section, with new photos to compliment it! Good job, T-Bone2000!
Well, I started school today (8th grade, my last year of Junior High!), so I'll really be slowing down on my ROMhacking. Oh, and by the way: there may be a new DES hack soon... Keep your eyes open!

Great news! Dragon Eye Studios has become affiliated with
Acmlm's ROMhack Domain! For those of you who are
interested (Or care! Kidding...:), you find their link underneath
the 'Vote for Me!' sign above. My link is also found at
Acmlm's ROMhack Domain, now. Oh, and while you're
looking at the link above, don't forget to Vote for Me! Thanks!

T-Bone2000 has already updated his patch to v1-2. levels 1-1 and 1-2 are
playable in this version. Get it from our Kid Icarus section!

Well, forget that that Kid Icarus patch was ever released; I've already received a bugfix version
from T-Bone2000 and have already posted it at the Kid Icarus section. So, if you downloaded the
Kid Icarus patch earlier, please download this bugfix. There should be no more problems with this
one. Again, good job, T-Bone2000! If anyone out there has any questions about our Kid Icarus
hack, or anything else at this web site, please e-mail either me or T-Bone2000. T-Bone2000 is
responsable for our Kid Icarus hack; I'm responsable for everything else. You won't be seeing any
updates posted by T-Bone2000 for a long while; we're still trying to get some kind of news
updater. Right now we're limited to posting updates by hand, so it's very hard. I'll keep all of
you up-to-date on everything regarding Dragon Eye Studios. Have fun with our Kid Icarus bugfix!

Finally! An update! I've been having so much trouble with my FreeI connection...
I meant to get this up yesterday, but I couldn't connect to the internet/upload my files.
I'm not even using my PC right now, so I can finally get this update posted!
I have been working on Mega Man: Wily's Conquest, but the graphics hacking is taking longer than expected. I'm doing the graphics for Bomb Man and Guts Man. After that, all that I'll have to do is to fix a small bug in the credits; a few parts repeat themselves, which was used to save space by the original programmers. Though it wouldn't save too much space. No more than 30 bytes...
Here's some good news; Dragon Eye Studios' Kid Icarus hack, which is being done by T-Bone2000, has just reached v1-1! It's first release will feature the first level; the second will be blocked off. He has done some great graphics changes and level changes. The name still has not been decided upon, so it will just be called Kid Icarus until it gets one. SNEStool will not be required for this; it's a .EXE file. Oh, and there is one bug in this; there is an extra exit about halfway through the level. If you take this exit, please redo the level and skip that door. Otherwise you skip alot of the level. Pick it up at the Kid Icarus section. Keep up the good work, T-Bone 2000!
If you would like to send feedback on T-Bone2000's Kid Icarus hack, or one of mine, for that matter,
please do!
T-Bone2000 Vagla
You can also find T-Bone2000's address at the top of the Kid Icarus section, and mine at the top of the Mega Man: Wily's Conquest, the Metroid Zebian Illusion section,
and on the bottom frame.

Well, I know that you're all growing impatient for Mega Man: Wily's Conquest.
It's Thursday, so I have missed my release date... Sorry about that; it's been
a pretty hectic week for me, and I've had almost no time to ROMhack... There's
only graphics hacking and a little bit of text hacking left until I'm done. The readme
has already been put together, so that won't be any trouble at all...
To make up for not getting MMWC done on time, I have placed a certain link in the links section that I'm sure everyone will be interested in... Take a look at Pure Emulation... You'll never be searching the internet for any ROMs again!
And one more thing: we are still looking for members! If there is anyone at all who is interested in joining us, please e-mail me, Vagla. Thanks!

I added many links and wound up taking out the old links bar and
adding an entire links section with descriptions. Take a look! You may find
something you like; SPCs, RPG translations, general emulation, and more!

I updated the utilities and game-specific utilities sections. There are tons
of new editors. Take a look!

Well, I said that there would be a new hack in the near future, didn't
I? Well, it has been started! A Kid Icarus hack, which to my knowledge has no
official name yet, is now in the works. The new Kid Icarus section is up
with screenshots! Currently part of level 1 has been completed, so the
screenshots are of what's been done in that level. T-Bone2000, our new
member, is the ROMhacker in charge of this. I'm sure he will do a great job!
Here's the status on Mega Man: Wily's Conquest. Ice Man's stage and Wily 1 have been completed, and the new graphics for Fire Man are done. 4 more bosses to go... Anyway, I may be a day late or 2 on the next release, which was supposed to be Sunday. Expect v0.70 (The main release because the last 3 Wily levels aren't supported by MegaEdit) to come out between Sunday and Wednesday. That may be the last release. We'll have to see if there is ever an update in MegaEdit...

Out of the blue... T-Bone2000, a ROMhacker, has just decided to join DES!
This means that you will be seeing some more hacks here at Dragon Eye
Studios! But the search is not over; originally, I was looking for 2 new
members, so there's still a spot we need to fill. If you are an unattached ROMhacker
and would like to join a group, we are a great choice! DES is becoming
more and more known, and there are many games open for hacking. So,
if you're interested, e-mail me,
Vagla, and include a hack
that you've done in the past or a demo of a hack that you are doing so that I
can see some of your work. Remember: there's always space open!

I was doing some more testing on the released version of Metroid
Zebian Illusion and I found that the elevator to Tourian somehow
was moved when I deleted its elevator room. I will not bother to
release a bugfix version; I'll just guarrantee that it will be gone in
v1.00. I recommend that you don't take the elevator or you'll be
quickly killed in the fragments of the Tourian data by invisable lava
and Metroids. It's a HUGE mess.

Well, I decided to join 2 webrings, which you can see in the webring
section of this web site. Hopefully this could bring more people...

I did some thinking and decided to release a dumbed-down version
of Metroid Zebian Illusion. MZI v0.20 has been released. You can
download it in the Metroid Zebian Illusion section. This patch allows
you to roam through the starting world, Brinstar, and only Brinstar.
The entrances to Tourian and Norfair have been blocked, and as
for Kraid's Hideout, you can only enter 2 screens. When you reach
Kraid's Hideout, you'll have basically finished this piece of my
Metroid hack, but then you should try to reach the room with the 2
statues before the elevator to Tourian. The road to that room is even
longer than the road to Kraid's Hideout... Do you have what it takes
to win...?

Well, I just got back from a short vacation, so I didn't have very much
time to make an update... Though it is unreleased, Mega Man: Wily's
Conquest is currently at 65% complete. Ice Man is finished, but needs
touch-up work because of a few small problems... The first Wily level
is done. There should not be any more problems with it...
The next version of MMWC will be v0.70. I first must finish the graphics for Guts Man, Ice Man, Fire Man, Bomb Man, and Elec Man. That should be done by the end of this week...
As the 'Help Wanted' sign above states, we are looking for members. If you are interested, please send a demo hack or a hack that you've done in the past to me, Vagla, here. I would prefer that the hack be a level hack, but if you would like to add graphics and text changes too, that would be great. Thanks!
And last of all, I would like to congradulate Challenge Games on their first birthday! I would have said it yesterday, but I just arrived at my house... Happy Birthday, Challenge Games!

Mega Man: Wily's Conquest is rapidly being completed. Excluding
the 3 Dr. Wily levels that MegaEdit can't edit, there are 2 levels left:
Ice Man and Wily 1. Elec Man was just completed, but with that came some
bad news: Another problem has been found with MegaEdit. It lacks support
for 3 screens of Elec Man's level. Let's just hope that there aren't any
problems with Ice Man or the first Wily level...
In conclusion, Mega Man: Wily's Conquest has been updated to v0.46. When I finally finish it, maybe Metroid Zebian Illusion will get some attention...

Well, I didn't get a chance to make an update yesterday, but I'm very
glad to have been given space from x-4000 of Challenge Games.
First of all, I need to say the latest news on my hacks; Mega Man: Wily's Conquest will be the first DES hack completed. That is my current project. Metroid Zebian Illusion has been put on ice until I finish MMWC, which shouldn't be long. When I do, I will go back to MZI and finish up Kraid's Hideout, start work on Norfair, and start work on Ridley's Hideout. Tourian and Brinstar are finished, but I may do some touch-up work on Brinstar. Most of the rooms in Kraid's Hideout are finished. I mainly have to rearrange them now...
Upon completion of those two hacks, I will be working on a Mega Man II hack and soon after that a sequel to Metroid Zebian Illusion (The story calls for it).
I would like to clear up that there are two other members of Dragon Eye Studios (You'll hear more about them if they ever get any work done!). One member is planning to do a Final Fantasy hack using Final Fantasy Improvement. The other will be doing a Super Mario Bros. hack using the YY-Mario Editor.
We will not be bothering to make a showcase with tons of peoples' hacks because Challenge Games has already done it... I don't how much bigger that thing can get!
7/23/00
![]()
Well, this isn't my site, but I thought I would make a news post
to welcome DES to Challenge Games. I've added the
new title graphic at Vagla's request, and I've also taken the
liberty of giving him a bit more code to work with, as Darkmazda
once did for a budding Smb3 hacker. Wonder who that was. :)
You should find this a lot easier to work with, and more professional, but I know that Valga will be making major updates over time to what little I have done, anyway. There is a slight problem with the "Links" dropdown bar, and I just want to point out that it is my fault, and not Vagla's. Vagla or I just have to figure out how to make frames parameters work in the java menus, and then the site will be perfect.
